Jeanette B. Calkins (Vaver)

Jeanette B. Calkins, age 88, died on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at the Atrium in Bloomer. She was born on August 8, 1929 on the Vaver Family Farm in the town of Bloomer to Franklin and Mildred (Lueck) Vaver. She married LeRoy Calkins on August 2, 1952 in Stillwater MN. Along with taking care of LeRoy and their 4 children Jeanette worked at Kostner and Kostner Law Office as a secretary for many years. Jeanette was the sexton/secretary of the Bloomer Cemetery and Chippewa County Farm Bureau and was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. She enjoyed embroidery and going out to dinner, but her true love was visiting with her family and friends and babysitting her grandkids, nieces, nephews and other children

She is survived by her sons: Michael (Carol), Gene and Timothy Calkins; daughter Marie Elsner; sister: Maurine (Eugene) Lueck; 5 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; numerous other relatives and friends

She was preceded in death by her parents: Franklin and Mildred Vaver; husband: LeRoy in 1983

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 18, 2018 at 7:00 PM at Olson Funeral Home in Bloomer with Pastor James Strand officiating. Friends may call from 5:00-7:00 PM on Thursday at the Funeral Home before the service. Private Burial will be in the Bloomer Cemetery on Friday. In lieu of flowers please direct memorials to the Bloomer Cemetery Association.
