Jean L. Turner

Jean Louise Turner, age 62, of Bloomer, passed away on August 12, 2023, surrounded by love, joy and faith. She was cared for in every way by her husband Randy and sister Linda since being diagnosed in January with pancreatic cancer.

Jean Louise Wenzel was born in August 1960, to Terry and Patricia (Kelm) Wenzel in Eau Claire. The adored granddaughter (and tagalong) of Walter and Gertrude Kelm. Jeannie was the little sister of Linda and Kathy. They grew up on the farm in Cooks Valley. Jean and Randy still live on that farm where they built their house. Jeannie married her high school sweetheart, Randy “RAT” Turner on September 22, 1979, in Bloomer. She worked for various plumbing businesses in the area until starting as an educational assistant at the Chippewa Falls Area Unified School District and worked there for the past 32 years. Jean was an amazing, strong and hard working woman.

Besides always working full-time, she worked beside Randy in their cement business R.A. Turner Construction. She did the bookwork, kept house, kept a garden and did the yard work, all while raising her two boys. She was an amazing mom; Ryan and Travis never went without, they always came first. Even though she did not grow up in a hunting family, when both boys were able to start going up north, Jeannie went along. Randy couldn’t keep track of both in the woods so there she was, beside them.

Jeannie loved being at the cabin or the lake, her happy places. She loved to dance a polka or lindy with her sister Linda. She enjoyed her yard- the flowers and birds. She loved picking blackberries and strawberries. Jean enjoyed playing cards with Dorothy and doing anything with her mom, Pat. Most of all, she loved her sons and her grandchildren that she couldn’t get enough time with. Spending time dancing with Nyleah and building Mr. Potato Head figures with Riggs. Jean had a strong faith and knew God loved her. Jean was a lifetime member of St. John’s Church.

Jean leaves behind her loving husband of 43 years: Randy; the loves of her life, sons: Ryan (Courtney Erickson) and Travis (Heather) both of Bloomer; her much loved and adored grandchildren: Nyleah Turner and Riggs; her bonus grandchildren: Cayden and Kooper; her sisters, Linda (Gary) Misfeldt and Kathleen Wenzel; her in-laws: Rod (Kellie) Turner, Robby (Missy) Turner and Shelly (John) Nitz; her loving nephews and nieces; great nephews and nieces, many other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her best friend and mother: Pat Wenzel; her loving grandparents: Walter and Gertrude Kelm, Hank and Vera Wenzel; her father: Terry Wenzel; and her in-laws: Bob and Dorothy Turner.

Jeannie was loved very much. She will never be forgotten. Her family wants to thank the wonderful, supportive staff of Mayo Clinic Cancer Center in Eau Claire. The Hospice staff of Mayo Clinic, especially her nurse Cheryl, who gave her love and laughter besides excellent care.
