Jean Marlys Balliette (Nevin) passed away on March 24, 2026. Jean was born on November 17, 1937, in Cumberland, WI. She attended school in Cumberland until 1953, when she and her parents moved to Menomonie, WI, where she graduated from high school in 1955. She attended Stout State University in Menomonie, where she met Richard, and they were married in August of 1956. Jean worked as secretary to the General Manager of Hawthorne Melody Farms Dairy in Whitewater, WI, while Richard completed his undergraduate work in Business Education. In January 1961, they moved to Wauzeka, WI. In 1964, they moved to Prescott, WI, where they lived until 1991. During her time in Prescott, Jean was a member of the United Church of Christ, the Mary Martha women’s circle, and served as a member and officer of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Jean was employed at Jacques Seed Company in Prescott as a sales coordinator for 17 years before retiring and moving to Island Lake, WI, where she and Richard purchased a retirement home on the lake.
More recently, Jean resided at Shorehaven in Oconomowoc, WI, where she enjoyed and participated in many activities. The family would like to thank the staff for the compassionate care they provided.
Jean loved crafting, playing bingo, and spending as much time as possible on the water with family and friends. Jean always embraced responsibility and was compassionate to others. Her kindness, thoughtfulness, and quiet generosity touched many lives.
She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her daughter, Roxanne Daily (Larry) of Watertown, WI; her granddaughter Sara and grandson Anthony; her son, Rod Balliette (Gina) of Georgia; her granddaughters, Yazmine and Rhiannon; one niece; five nephews; and several great-nieces, great-nephews, and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Anthony and Dora Nevin; her husband, Richard; her brothers, Donald and DeWayne; her sister, Phyllis Thorstad; and her infant brother, Clifford.
Visitation will be held from 12:00 to 1:00 PM on Saturday, April 4, 2026 at Olson Funeral Home in Bloomer, Wisconsin with a funeral to follow at 1:00 PM.
