Janis S. Christensen

Janis S. Christensen, age 64, passed away on, Saturday, June 28, 2025, at Dove Healthcare West in Eau Claire.

Janis was born on March 13, 1961, in Burlington, WI to Donald and Evelyn (McNamara) Shilts. She attended Chi-Hi in Chippewa Falls and graduated with the Class of 1979. Janis worked as a CNA at the Northern Center for 38 years. On January 29, 2018, Janis married Joel J. Rihn. She enjoyed being outside, sitting by the fire, camping, cooking, reading books, tending to her flowers and spending time with her grandchildren.

Janis is survived by her husband: Joel Rihn; sons: Chad Christensen and Joshua Rihn; brothers: Donald Jr. (Eunice) Shilts and Doug (Toni) Shilts; twin sister: Jean (Robert) Starkman and sister: Cathy Metzenbauer; grandchildren: Kylie, Eric, Shelby, Lucy, Irie, Kaston, Jase and Molly; along with several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Donald and Evelyn Shilts; brother: Daniel Shilts; sister: Margie Shilts; and brother-in-law: William Metzenbauer.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM, on Monday, July 7, 2025, at Chippewa Valley Bible Church, 531 E South Ave, in Chippewa Falls, WI. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM, on Monday at the church. Burial will be held at a later date. Charity donations may be sent to the St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
