James W. Vail, age 85, passed away at his home in Bloomer on Tuesday, September 06, 2016. He was born on May 1, 1931 in Germantown PA to James H. and and Louise (Twomey) Vail. He married Ione Goettl on February 23, 1954 at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Bloomer. Jim served in the US Air Force during the war in Korea and was a self-employed auto body repair person. He enjoyed fishing (especially fishing trips to Canada) and building and flying his radio controlled air craft. Most of all he loved spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife: Ione of Bloomer; five daughters: Julia (Bill) Ruff of Phillips, Janice (Ed) Melberg of Chippewa Falls, Jennifer (Butch) Marek of Bloomer, Mary (John) Paulus of Bloomer, Laura (Charlie) Sarauer of Bloomer; brother: Charles Vail of Morton PA; brother-in-law: David Troland of Springfield PA; 9 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents: James and Louise Vail; sister: Nathalie Troland.
A memorial service will be held at the Olson Funeral Home in Bloomer on Sunday, September 11, 2016 at 5:00 PM with a visitation beginning at 3:00 until the time of service.
