James R. Stanford

James R. Stanford, age 56, of the New Auburn/Chetek area, passed away on October 18, 2026, at Mayo Clinic Health Systems Hospital in Eau Claire.

James was born on January 14, 1970, in Bloomer to Russell and Catherine (Silvers) Stanford. He graduated high school in Chetek and volunteered his time at the Barron Senior Center.

He enjoyed fishing, going for walks, watching movies, listening to music, coloring, holiday get-togethers and spending time with family and friends. He also loved playing Uno, Skip-bo, and keeping up with old friends and family on Facebook.

James is survived by his sister: Dee (Bob) Stanford; nephew: Nathan (Dani) Greenwold; niece: Shana (Dalton) Dregney; one great-niece and one great-nephew; many aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother: William Stanford; paternal grandparents: Chet and Shirley Stanford; maternal grandparents: Carl and Deloris Gehring.

A graveside service will be at 2:00 PM, on Saturday, October 24, 2026, at the New Auburn Cemetery, 23532 County Hwy-Q, New Auburn, WI 54757. A celebration of life and reception will follow the burial from 2:30 PM to 4:00 PM at the Bloomer Senior Center, 2121 Duncan Rd, Bloomer, WI 54724.
