Irwin L. Benson

Irwin L. Benson, age 84, passed away at the Maplewood in Bloomer on Wednesday, June 25 2014. He was born on October 20, 1929 in Bloomer to Bert and Nellie (Hilson) Benson. He Married Peggy Pritchard on September, 26 1953 in Bloomer. Irwin worked as a farmer all of his life, a job that he truly loved. In his free time he enjoyed fishing, playing cards-especially Euchre, bowling, pool, going to the casino and spending time with family and friends.

He is survived by his wife of over 60 years: Peggy; children: Vicky (James) Schindler of Colfax, and Randy (Dawn Peil) Benson of Bloomer; grandchildren: Stephanie (Chris) Dusek, Mandy Schindler, April (Mikal Rutten) Benson, Christopher (Krystal Onatolu), and Jason (Elise) Benson; 3 great-grandchildren: Xena Dusek, Max Guthrie and Jaxon Benson, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents; eight sisters: Leona Amodt, Doris Lewis, Vivian Clements, Florence “Tootin” Culver, Betty Cronin, Nelva Ellis, and Florence in infancy; one infant brother Bertram

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2014 at 11:00 AM at the Olson Funeral Home in Bloomer. There will be a visitation one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
