Obituary for Iris L. Lear (Brewer)

Iris L. Lear passed away peacefully in her home in Chetek on Friday, March 19, 2010. She was born on February 25, 1916 in Sand Creek, Wisconsin to Marshall and Carrie (Hendrickson) Brewer. She went to Colfax High School and continued her education in Minneapolis Minnesota. She married Kenneth Lear on October 18, 1939 at the parsonage in Sand Creek. She worked on the farm for most of her life while taking care of and raising her children. She was a member of the Dovre Lutheran Church and Ladies Aid and loved to spend her free time baking, cooking, painting, quilting and gardening.

She is survived by one son: Morris “Buck” Lear and his wife, Suzanne of Eau Claire WI; one daughter Maxine Hallin and her husband, Ron of Grasston, MN; one sister: Ruth Stonewall of Amery WI; three grandchildren: Robin Smith and her husband, Steve Blouin, Marissa Fortin and her husband, Stephen and Kenneth Russell “Rusty” Lear; one daughter-in-law Deanna (Lear) McGinnis and her husband Michael; numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband: Kenny; son: Philip; sisters: Anna Brewer, Etta Williamson, Irene Schwartz, Elvira Hespenhide; brother: Edward Brewer.

A memorial service will be held at Dovre Lutheran Church in Chetek, Wisconsin on Tuesday, March 23, 2010 at 11:00 AM. There will be a visitation at the church from 9:30 AM until the time of service on Tuesday.
