Irene L. Foster, age 83, passed away at the Maple Wood in Bloomer on Saturday, March 8, 2014. She was born on June 7, 1930 in Dallas WI to Rudolph and Mildred (Boggess) Prill. She attended Auburn Center School in Chippewa County, New Auburn High School and Bloomer High School. She married Frederick Slayton on April 3, 1948. After his death in 1982, she married Roy Foster on April 8, 1995. She worked at Chippewa Co Dairy, the Bloomer Hospital, Nelson Filter, and Hardees. She was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Bloomer where she taught Sunday school, bible school, and was on the church council. She was also a member of the Eastern Star in Bloomer, the American Legion Auxiliary and St. Paul’s Catholic Church. Irene loved traveling, gardening, making crafts, baking cookies for her grandchildren and spending time with family and friends.
She is survived by her husband: Roy Foster of Bloomer; daughters: Pam (Steve) Hebert of Chetek and Darla (Patrick) Flynn of Bloomer; son: David Slayton of Indiana; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; five step-children; nine step-grandchildren; sisters Ardis (Ed) Proue of Chippewa Falls and Isabel (Tom) Bowe of Chippewa Falls; special friends Pat (Ron)Harris; godchildren: Darryl Fehr and Barb Sommerfield.
She is preceded in death by her parents; first husband: Frederick Slayton; daughter: Patty Burgess in 2003; brother: Merlin Prill in infancy; niece Mary Proue; great-grandson Koah Pederson
Funeral Services will be held at the Olson Funeral Home in Bloomer on Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at 4:00 PM with a visitation from 2:00-4:00 PM at the Funeral Home. Interment will be in the spring.
