Obituary for Howard W. Weber

Howard William Weber was born March 27, 1940 to Howard E. Weber and Margaret E. (Stockfish) Weber on the family farm north of Bloomer, WI. He passed from this life on May 16, 2017 at 77 years of age at the Dove Healthcare Center in Bloomer.

Howard lived his entire life on the farm. He married Bonnie M. Withrow on October 29, 1960 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Bloomer.

Farming was his life’s calling and he was good at what he did. Howie and his father and children milked registered Holsteins for many years. In mid-life, Howie found a second calling and was involved in many church activities. Together, he and Bonnie pastored St. John’s Lutheran Church, rural Gilman, for more than 4 years. He was an active participant and leader of the Lay School of Ministry of the ELCA’s Northwest Synod of Wisconsin for nearly 25 years. He also participated in church mission trips to Mexico, Brazil, Malawi, and the Holy Land.

Fishing, either by boat or on the ice, gave him many hours of fun and relaxation with family and friends. He always looked forward to the special yearly excursions with fishing buddies to northern waters. But his greatest joy was spending time with family and friends, telling stories and catching up. He loved being with people.

Howie is survived by his wife, Bonnie; children: Laura (Steve) Weber-Meyers of Englewood, CO; Gary of Altoona, WI; Douglas of Providence, RI; Diane (Ronald) Weber-Brand of Sauk Rapids, MN; Robert (Cathy) of Bloomer; Carolyn (Trent) Weber-Kreitlow of Sun Prairie, WI; and Becky (Steve) Caron of Sun Prairie, WI. Grandchildren: Sean Weber, Brandon Badzinski, Emma Weber, Elise Weber, Sam Weber, Andrew Caron, Ronny Brand, Lydia Kreitlow, Joshua Caron, Adrien Kreitlow, and Nathan Weber; and sister, Phyllis (Mike) Johnson of Cameron, WI, and nephew Brandon Johnson of Ham Lake, MN.

He was preceded in death by parents, Howard and Margaret; grandparents, Fred and Emma (Lehman) Weber, Charles and Ella (Arndt) Stockfish; nephew Matthew Johnson, uncles, aunts, and dear friends.

Visitation will be at Olson Funeral Home, 1516 Larson St, Bloomer, on Friday, May 19 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm. A Celebration of Life service will be held at on Saturday, July 1, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Eau Claire.
