“Herman Brandstatter’s good life.” Herman Brandstatter, age 94, passed away on Wednesday June 24, 2015 at the Country Terrace in Bloomer. He was born on June 23, 1921 in New Auburn to Mike and Mary (Ritter) Brandstatter. He married Inez Avery on July 12, 1949. He proudly served his country in the US Army which took him traveling around country and around world; from Alaska to Alabama, to the New Jersey board walk; to climbing the Statue of Liberty and traveling to England, France, Belgium, Holland, and Germany. He and his brother ran a resort on Long Lake before he worked on the Holcombe damn. Herman’s real passion was farming. He served on the town board, the county A.S.C. Committee, and hauled kids to the school in the station wagon for many years. He’s fondest memories were taking fishing trips to Canada with his boys, his adventure to Alaska with Inez and the fact the he still had his driver’s license with no restrictions at 93…it truly was a good life.
Herman is survived by three sons: Dennis (Karyl) of New Auburn, Dale (Debbie) of Ladysmith, and Rodney Brandstatter of Smithfield UT; seven grandchildren: Travis, Alyssa, Krystal, Michelle, Katelin, Michael, and Jamie; three great-grandchildren: Brodie, Riley and Emma; beloved dog: Misty.
