Jane graduated from Waterloo East High School in 1944 and then attended Iowa State University in Ames IA, where she majored in Textiles and Clothing. She commented often about the lack of men at the college, as they were still fighting in WWII. While attending the university, she met and married David Trites after his discharge from the Navy. After graduation, they moved to Austin TX where Dave pursued a doctorate degree in Psychology at the University of Texas. In 1950, their precious and beloved daughter, Connie, was born. Jane, David and Connie moved to San Antonio where Dave worked at Randolph Air Force Base. The family then moved to Norman OK. Jane completed a Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education at the University of Oklahoma and taught for many years. After a divorce, Jane moved to Milwaukee where she managed a fabric store. In 1974 she reunited with her high school boyfriend, Wayne Seidler, and the couple moved to Houston TX. They married and lived in The Woodlands TX where they were very active in the tennis community. Jane became an accomplished tennis player, even competing in the Senior Olympics with her sister, Shirlee Monty in doubles competition. In 1978, Jane and Wayne bought a cottage on Long Lake in New Auburn where Jane spent the happiest summers of her life near her daughter, Connie, and her grandchildren. Jane and Wayne moved from Houston to DeLand FL in 1995 to be closer to his sons. She was very active in the Presbyterian Church of DeLand. Following Wayne’s death, she became dear friends with Henry Dutton. The two spent several years together enjoying trips and church activities.
In 2013, at the age of 87, Jane decided she wanted to be closer to her family. She moved to Bloomer WI where she spent weekends visiting her great-grandchildren, Ella and Ava, enjoying the family cabin on Loon Lake, or participating in other family activities. She was always a willing participant in games of Bags or Ladder Golf and loved roasting marshmallows by the campfire. She accompanied her daughter to Texas during the winter months where she enjoyed golf cart rides, fresh grapefruit and the active social life.
