Hedwig Sugars

Hedwig E. “Hedy” Sugars, age 69, passed away Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at Syverson Lutheran Home in Eau Claire. She was born October 13, 1941 in Chicago IL to Emil & Theresa Rudolf. She married Walter Sugars on September 15, 1962 in Chicago. Hedy was an excellent cook. She and her husband, Walter, owned and operated Smiley’s Pizza Place in Bloomer for 13 years. During that time, they belonged to the Bloomer Chamber of Commerce and were big supporters of many Bloomer Community projects. Hedy also worked at the Eagleton Nursing Home for many years, serving as kitchen manager and as a nurse’s aide. Hedy loved to help people and was a volunteer at St. Joseph’s Hospital. She also enjoyed knitting, sewing, traveling, gardening and spending time with her husband and numerous friends.

She is survived by her husband, Walter and numerous friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, January21, 2011 at 11:00 AM at the Olson Funeral Home in Bloomer. Interment will be in the Eagleton Cemetery. Friends may call from 10:00 until the time of service on Friday at the funeral home. There will be no visitation Thursday evening.
