Obituary for Harvey A. Dreger

Harvey August Dreger, age 96, passed away on Tuesday, October 3, 2017 at Colfax Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was born August 24, 1921 in Bloomer to Adolph and Lydia (Jacobs) Dreger. They lived in Bloomer until Adolph died in 1922. They moved to a farm near New Auburn when Harvey was 14. Lydia then married Herman Smith. After Herman passed away, Harvey and his brother, Irvie, farmed with their mother for years. Harvey married Audrey M. Waterhouse on May 12, 1943 in Bloomer. They had three children; Raymond, Ronald and Donna. They rented farms until they bought their own farm near Colfax. In 1980 Harvey retired, sold the farm to Ray and moved a mile down the road to a hobby farm. He became blind but was able to maintain his spirit and good will. He enjoyed fishing, farming and spending time with his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father: Adolph; step-fathers: Herman Smith and Warren Smith; mother: Lydia; brother: Irvine; sister: Dorothy; grandchildren: Christie and James; daughter-in-law: Petra Dreger.

He is survived by his wife of 74 years: Audrey of Colfax; sons: Raymond Dreger of Colfax and Ronald (Sandra) Dreger of Hallie; daughter: Donna (Fran) Fedie of Mondovi; six grandchildren: Randy, Jeremy, Eric (Jean) Dreger, John (Amy), Tim (Elizabeth) Fedie, Jennifer (Nate) Quist; ten great-grandchildren: Daniel, Andrea and Emily Quist, William, Grant and Rose Fedie, Harrison Harvey (named after great-grandpa) and Lincoln Fedie, Tara (Mike) Kaufman, Krystal Dreger; four great-great grandchildren.


Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 7, 2017 at 1:00 PM at Colfax Lutheran Church with Pastor Leslie Walck officiating. There will be a visitation one hour before the service at the church. Interment will be in the Marquardt Cemetery. Please direct memorials to Marquardt Cemetery
