Gordon Bitney

Gordon E. Bitney, age 91, passed away Tuesday, May 9, 2013 at the Maplewood in Bloomer. He was born on March 12, 1922 in the town of Auburn to Elmer and Clara (Proue) Bitney. He married Valeria A. Gravunder on June 12, 1941. He worked as a dairy farmer, a milk hauler and for the Bloomer Telephone company. In his free time he enjoyed, fishing, wood working, playing cards (especially buck euchre), deer hunting, telling stories and spending time with his friends and family

He is survived by his wife of 71 years: Valeria; son: John (Cynthia) Bitney of Eau Claire; daughters: Charlene Goller of Bloomer and Cheryl (Jack) Nimtz of Rochester MN; sister: Wanda Kure of Bloomer; 10 grandchildren and many great and great-great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents: Elmer and Clara; son-in-law: Jim Goller; brother: Orville Bitney; sisters: Doris Stuckert, Millie Reetz, and Eleanor Olson

Funeral services will be held at the Olson Funeral Home in Bloomer on Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Bruce Rimmereid officiating. There will be a visitation one hour prior to the service on Tuesday. Interment will take place in Pleasant Valley Cemetery following the service.
