Obituary for Goldie Ann Hyke

Goldie Ann Hyke, age 90, passed away at Dove Healthcare in Bloomer on Friday, February 12, 2016 with her family by her side. She was born on August 7, 1925 in Maple Grove Iowa to Sylvester and Dorothy (McDaniel) Weigl. Goldie married John Hyke on November 8, 1945 in Lourdes Iowa. Together John and Goldie raised a family on their farm near New Auburn. Goldie was a long time member of St. Jude’s Catholic Church in New Auburn and enjoyed working at TJ’s food and fun, waiting tables and visiting with people. In her free time she was a 4H Leader, a gardener, loved flowers and spending time with her friends, family, and grandchildren.

She is survived by her children: Larry (Becky) Hyke of New Auburn, Jerry Hyke of Bloomer, Connie (Ben) Lewis of Chippewa Falls and Terry Hyke of New Auburn; 9 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; special friends: JoAnne Erickson, Wanda Cutsforth and Peggy Benson; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents: Sylvester and Dorothy; husband: John; son: Gary Hyke; siblings: Delores Sonnack and infants: Merle, Grace and Marlys.

Mass of a Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Jude’s Catholic Church in New Auburn on Wednesday, February 17, 2016 at 10:30 AM. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 16th from 4:00-7:00 PM at Olson Funeral Home in Bloomer with a time of remembrance at 7:00 PM. Friends may also call one hour before the Mass at church on Wednesday. Interment will be in the New Auburn Cemetery.
