Gilbert “Gib” Sarazen, age 88, passed away Sunday, July 27, 2014 MCHS Chippewa Valley in Bloomer. He was born June 29, 1926 in Racine WI to Alex and Esther (Nelson) Sarazen. He married June Gunderson on September 9, 1950 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Bloomer. He served in the Navy during WWII on a small landing craft and was a member of the LSM Association. After serving his country, he hauled milk to Mid-Am dairy for his company, Sarazen Trucking. He then became the owner/operator of Indianhead Blacktop. Gib enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, boating, going to the cabin and spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife: June of Bloomer; one son: Jeffrey (Cherri) Sarazen in Wausau; one daughter: Renee (Brent) LeMay of New Auburn; three grandchildren: Sean Sarazen, Marnie Sarazen and Jamie (Tom) Moos.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Alex and Esther Sarazen.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 31, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Bloomer. Friends may call from 10:00 AM until the time of service on Thursday at the church. There will be no visitation Wednesday evening. Burial will be in the Northern Wisconsin Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery in Spooner. Honor Guard will be provided by the Bloomer American Legion/VFW.
