Gertrude D. Shipman (Rehm)

Gertrude D. Shipman, age 96, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 31, 2014 at her home. She was born February 1, 1918 in the Town of Auburn to George and Ada (Paus) Rehm. She married Edmund Shipman on May 2, 1937 at the EUB Church (now the United Methodist Church) in Bloomer. She worked as a cook for the Bloomer Hospital for many years and was very active in church activities, including teaching Sunday School and UMW. She was a member of the Garden Club, Homemakers Club and enjoyed gardening, embroidering, cooking, baking, reading the Bible and spending time with her family, friends and kitty.

She is survived by one son: John (Audrey) Shipman of Bloomer; three daughters: Janice Crowell of Bloomer, Anna (Ted) Bowe of Eau Claire and Roxanne (Charles) Parrish of Lincoln RI; Daughter-in-law: Nobu Shipman of San Diego CA; Sister: Fern Meisner of Bloomer; 21 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; 17 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents: George and Ada Rehm; husband: Ed; son: Paul; daughter: Hazel Woods; brothers: Waldron, Howard and Stanley Rehm; sister: Evelyn Gotham; grandchildren: Jean Ann Woods, Dan Crowell, Sandy Shipman and Billy Woods; great-great grandchildren: Charles Lee Homman and Christopher Crowell; sons-in-law: William Woods and Raymond Crowell.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at 11:00 AM at the United Methodist Church in Bloomer. Burial will be in the Bloomer Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 – 8:00 on Monday at the Olson Funeral Home in Bloomer and one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday.
