Gerald W. "Jerry" Sarau

Gerald “Jerry” Sarau, age 92, passed away on February 6, 2020 at the Meadowbrook in Bloomer. He was born on April 13, 1927 in St. Paul Minnesota to John and Grace Sarau. He married Katherine “Katy” Yung on August 16, 1946. He proudly served his country in the US Navy. Jerry and his family moved around quite a bit and he worked for several municipalities as a mechanic and welder for much of his life. Jerry loved tending to his cows and chickens on the farm as well as spending time with his family and friends. He would take an occasional hunting, fishing or casino trip and had a passion for old cars and traveling the world. He will be missed by those who knew him.

He is survived by his children: Connie (Glen) Tuma, James Sarau and Renee (Bob) Van Remmen; 7 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents: John and Grace; wife: Katy; son: David Sarau

A celebration of Jerry and Katy’s life will be held at the Olson Funeral Home in Bloomer from 1:00-3:00 PM on Sunday February 9, 2020. Interment and Military Honors will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis on Tuesday, February 11, 2020 at 11:15 AM.
