Genevieve (Gen) Marion (Hartmann) Nimtz passed away Sunday, August 12, 2012 at Chippewa Manor in Chippewa Falls, WI. She was born on October 4,1920 to Helena (Lena) Mary Koehne and Henry Lee Hartmann in Hamar, North Dakota. As a child and young adult she lived in New Ulm, MN, Eau Claire, WI and Chippewa Falls, WI. She was a graduate of Chippewa Falls High School. On April 5, 1942 (Easter Sunday) she became the bride of Walter Gustav Nimtz at Zion Lutheran Church in Chippewa Falls, WI. Subsequently they lived in Minneapolis, MN.; Bloomer, WI.; Bozeman, MT.; San Mateo, CA.; San Jose, CA.; and Blue Springs, MO. In 1999 they returned to their roots in Bloomer. They celebrated sixty three years of marriage prior to Walter’s death in 2005. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Bloomer, WI. Mom lived the life of the “Song of Ruth": "Whither thou goest, I will go" following Walt throughout his career as their family grew. During all those years it was expected that the family vacation would consist of a mad dash back to Bloomer in the car with four children, her mother (and lots of luggage) to be surrounded by family. Above all our Mother was the strength that created and completed our family. She was a nurturer who understood that children needed to develop and grow each in their own way. A patient and private woman she was always strong in her faith. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren benefited from all that love and acceptance. She is their beloved GG and we all knew we could turn to her for guidance no matter our ages. She enriched our lives in ways too countless too measure and will continue to be a living presence because of how special she was. Her grace and love will be with us always.
She is survived by two sons: Scott (Marlys) Nimtz of Ozark, MO; Barry (Lynda) Nimtz of Onalaska, WI and one daughter Patricia (Herman) Boettcher of Bloomer, WI.
