Gary Davis

Gary was born at home near Sampson, WI on August 10, 1947 to Axel and Ellen (Oemig) Davis. He was raised there and graduated high school from Chippewa Falls, WI. Gary was united in marriage to Vivian Crawford in 1965 and to this union a son Randy was born. Gary worked for UPS for many years. In 2004, he was united in marriage to Susan Regnier. The couple lived near Canby, MN where they enjoyed keeping up the farm. They also spent several winters in Arizona and enjoyed traveling. Gary loved working and preparing for the Regnier seasonal auctions and made many friends throughout the community. He had a passion for hunting and gardening and sharing his produce with family and friends.

After almost four years, we are sorry to say our husband and dad, Gary Davis has lost his battle with cancer at his home on Monday, August 21, 2017. Our families are very proud of the battle that he fought with everything he had right to the very end. We will miss him with all of our hearts.

Over the past weeks we have had many of his friends tell us how much they will miss him. That he was a friend that wasn’t afraid to tell you what he thought because that is what true friends do. “The one who doesn’t tell you what you want to hear, but what you need to hear.”

He had a way of meeting people and making real connections with them immediately. “If you were his friend, you knew it and if you weren’t you knew that too.” He had the kind of philosophy that lent itself to “It’s the friends we meet along the way that help us appreciate the journey.” If friends are considered riches, then my Dad Gary is the richest man I have ever known. Good friends never say Goodbye, they simply say “See you later!”

He is survived by his wife Susan Davis, Canby, MN, son Randy (Dana) Davis, Blaine, MN and their children, Benjamin and Danielle; step children: Tracy (Lewis) Vandover, Kirkwood, MO and their son Samuel and Derek Gullickson, St. Cloud, MN and his son Jay Stueve; two brothers: Darrel (June) Davis, Rockford, IL and Merlyn (Eva) Davis, Reedsburg, WI; two sisters: Emma Hazelton, Eau Claire, WI and Darlene (Ronald) Fetting, New Auburn, WI; brothers and sisters-in-law: Ronnie Regnier, Canby, MN, Darrell (Dawn) Regnier, Canby, MN, Diane (Doug) Anderson, Big Stone, SD and Jane (Rodney Gaffney) Jennen, Minneota, MN and his nieces and nephews.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents and one sister Goldene Davis.

A memorial service will be held at the Bloomer Moose Lodge at 1:00 PM on Saturday September 30th.
