Obituary for Eugene R. Muhlenbeck

Eugene “Gene” Muhlenbeck, age 92, passed away peacefully, Monday, May 14, 2018 at the Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Colfax, WI. He was born on February 1st, 1926 in North Cape, WI: son of William and France (Gitzlaff) Muhlenbeck. Gene was a long-time resident of Union Grove, WI, until 2016 when he moved to Bloomer, WI to be closer to family.

On May 29, 1947, he was united in marriage to Violet Kuhn at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. They had 69 wonderful years of marriage and together they raised 3 children. He was the proud owner of his electrician business for many years.
Gene was a patient, gentle soul. He enjoyed staying close to home in the house he proudly built with his own hands, working in his beautiful garden or tinkering with something around the house. He lived by the “fix what you have, and don’t throw it away” rule. Gene appreciated a good ‘ole conversations with his family and friends about anything and everything going on in the world. He treasured and loved his family to his core.
He is survived by his three children, Jim Muhlenbeck, of Colfax, WI, Kathleen (Michael) Seymour of Zimmerman, MN, Thomas (Jodine) Muhlenbeck of Bloomer, WI, his 5 grandchildren, Tammy (Travis) Solie, Katie (Raymond) Plummer, Marie (Jacob) Hessler, Alec Seymour, and Megan Seymour, 3 step-grandchildren Nick (Kattie) Bergeron, Luke Bergeron (Nikki Johnson), and Karissa (Kody) Steinmetz and 4 great-children, Hannah, Ellisyn, Isabel, and Lydia.
Eugene was proceeded in death by his wife, Violet, parents, William and Frances Muhlenbeck, and his brother, Albert “Sonny” (Madeline) Muhlenbeck.
A private service will be held Friday, May 18th at the Eagleton Cemetery in Eagle Point, WI. The family would like to extend a big heartfelt THANK YOU to the staff at the Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Colfax and Mayo Home Health and Hospice for their loving and compassionate care given to Gene.
