Eugene R. Mattson

Eugene R. Mattson 79, passed away at MCHS in Eau Claire on Sunday, April 26, 2020. He was born in in the Town of Sampson on April 20, 1941 to Robert and Ruth (Larson) Mattson. He married Linda Grenwalt in 1964 in Rockford IL, they later divorced. He moved back to Wisconsin and worked at National Presto and as a farm hand for several farms in the area. In his later years he lived at Meadowbrook in Chetek. Gene enjoyed fishing and was quite the conversationalist; always sharing jokes and stories with his friends and family.
He is survived by his sisters: Betty Lou Merkel of Rockford IL and Barbara Jeanne (Robert) Metcalf of Bloomer; brothers: James Mattson of Chetek and Dennis (Maryann) Mattson Alamo Texas; sister in-law: Patricia Mattson of Bloomer, numerus cousins, niece’s nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Robert and Ruth Mattson; brother: Glenn Mattson; in-laws: Ray Merkel and Shirley Mattson.
Due to current restrictions private graveside services will be held at the Island Lake Cemetery.
