Obituary for Eugene David Ferstenou

Eugene D. Ferstenou, age 72, passed away Wednesday, December 1, 2010 at his home in Bloomer. He was born December 11, 1937 in the Town of Bloomer, Chippewa County to Paul & Eva (Reichel) Ferstenou. He married Judy Gehring on March 19, 1960 in Bloomer. Eugene served in the Navy during peacetime. He and his wife, Judy, owned and operated their own dairy farm. He was an avid Packer and Badger fan, enjoyed snowmobiling and loved farming and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife: Judy of Bloomer; one daughter: Cindy (Dennis) Steinmetz of New Auburn; two sons: Mark (Jodi) Ferstenou of Bloomer and Kevin (Kerry) Ferstenou of Bloomer; two brothers: Walter Ferstenou of Chippewa Falls and Elmer (Evelyn) Ferstenou of Bloomer; two sisters: Fern Olson of Chippewa Falls and Dorothy (Lorne) Hassemer of Bloomer; nine grandchildren: Bryana, Lakyn and Kegyn Steinmetz, Bradley, Bruce, Kaleb and Hunter Ferstenou, Trevor and Tanner Ferstenou.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Edward and Melvin Ferstenou; two sisters: Betty Wells & Helen Anderson; infant granddaughter: Nicole; mother and father-in-law: Herman and Dorothy Gehring.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, December 5, 2010 at 2:00 PM at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Bloomer with Rev. Robert Hannemann officiating. Military rites will be performed by the Bloomer VFW and American Legion. Interment of cremains will take place at a later date in the Scandinavian Cemetery, Town of Woodmohr, Chippewa County WI. Friends may call from 12:00 PM until the time of service on Sunday at the church. There will be no visitation Saturday evening.
