Elmer Prenzlow

Rev. Elmer J.C. Prenzlow, Jr., age 80, passed away Thursday, May 28, 2009 at Colfax Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was born April 4, 1929 in Norfolk, Nebraska to Rev. Elmer & Alvina (Henning) Prenzlow, Sr. He married Karen DeMoss on July 4, 1980 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Bloomer. Elmer was a graduate of Northwestern Lutheran College in Watertown WI and WELS Seminary in Thiensville WI; received his Masters in Engineering and Philosophy from the University of Minnesota, his masters of education psychology from the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee and his PhD in Psychology in Criminal Justice from the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee. Elmer was the Pastor of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Bloomer from 1953 �" 1962. He was a campus pastor for 18 colleges and universities in the Milwaukee area, was a staff member for the South Wisconsin LCMS District in Milwaukee, director of major gifts for the foundation department of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod in St. Louis MO, and served on the LCMS Stewardship Department and the LCMS Foundation until retirement in September of 1988. He was a member of the Jaycees, Bloomer Chamber of Commerce, Milwaukee Optimist Club, and Bloomer Lions. He enjoyed being a Pastor, being active in the community, visiting with friends, traveling with his wife, Karen, and traveling for Lutheran World Relief to Africa and South America.

He is survived by his wife: Karen of Bloomer; one son: Elmer C. “Gee” (Linda) Prenzlow of Thiensville WI; one grandson: Elmer Alexander “Alex” Prenzlow of Thiensville WI; one sister: Gwen Stallkamp of Albert Lea MN; two nephews: Rick Stallkamp of Minnesota & Ryan Stallkamp of California.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother: Richard; one brother-in-law: Elwood Stallkamp.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 2, 2009, 11:00 a.m. at Faith Lutheran Church in Chippewa Falls with Rev. William Plautz and Rev Craig Mathews officiating. Interment will be in Eagleton Cemetery in Eagleton WI. Friends may call from 4:00 �" 8:00 on Monday at the Olson Funeral Home in Bloomer and one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday.
