Elizabeth M. “Betty” Weber

Elizabeth M. “Betty” Weber, was born October 8, 1932 to Homer and Gertrude Caron (Schwab). She was called home to eternal rest on Sunday, May 24, 2026.

She attended St. Pauls’s Catholic Grade School, Bloomer High School, and Marshfield School of Nursing, receiving her R.N. in 1956. Continuing education classes included Cardinal Stritch College and Marquette University. She married Marvin L. Weber on June 29, 1957. Together they raised four children: Jeff (Lisa) of Bloomer, Dave (Chris) of Occonomowoc, Mary Stencil (Tom) of Colfax, Elizabeth (Lisa) Manor (Tom) of Woodbury, MN. Her nursing career of 55 years included the VA Hospital in West Allis, Woodland Health Center in Brookfield, St. Anne’s Home for the Elderly and St. Mary’s Nursing Home, both in Milwaukee. A move to Bloomer in the late 1990’s allowed her to return to her hometown and continue her nursing career which included the care of her own mother. After 15 years of dedicated service at Maplewood Nursing Home in Bloomer, she finally retired. Betty found her passion in caring for the elderly and was especially gifted at guiding patients and families through end of life transitions.

She was an active member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church where she enjoyed singing with the Resurrection Singers for many years. She believed firmly in service to others and gave back to her community through volunteering as a mentor to students at Bloomer Elementary. She was an active member of the Bloomer Women’s Club and found great joy in her Friday shifts at the Bloomer Community Clothes Closet. In support of her husband’s military service and her great love for this country, she was an active member of the American Legion Auxiliary.

Betty’s faith guided her everyday actions. She was strongly influenced by the words of Mother Theresa and woke each day with the idea that she would, “Do small things with great love.” She used her creative talents to make and send greeting cards to her family and friends and created an annual supply of Mother’s Day cards to be given free of charge to customers at her son’s greenhouse. Inspired by her faith and passionate beliefs, she wrote countless articles posted as letters to the editor in the Bloomer Advance sharing her thoughts and wisdom on various topics that were close to her heart.

Betty felt most alive when she had dirt under her fingernails. She loved planting and tending to flowers alongside her son Jeff and the crew at Woodmohr Greenhouse. She also enjoyed the beautiful gardens surrounding her home just down the road.

As she neared the end of her earthly journey, she was blessed to be surrounded by friends and family in the home her husband built and she dearly loved. She felt fortunate to have her granddaughter Erin living right next door, checking on her daily.

She is survived by her 4 children; 12 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends who will miss her dearly. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; sisters: Mary Ann SDS and Janet (Richard) Spitzer; brothers: Vernon (Rosemary) Caron and Albert (Monica) Caron; dearest in-laws: Fred (Betty) Warden and Jean Weber.
