Elaine A. Gladitsch

Elaine A. Gladitsch, age 88, passed away at Colfax Health and Rehabilitation on April 22, 2015. She was born on April 24, 1926 in St. Paul MN to Charles and Cleo (Brandrup) Wenzel. She graduated from Macalester University with a degree in sociology. Elaine married William E. Gladitsch on August 16, 1947 in St. Paul and was the office manager for his veterinary business in Bloomer for many years. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Bloomer and the Bloomer Woman’s Club. Elaine loved her family and friends dearly and would take every opportunity to spend time with them. When anyone stopped at Elaine’s home they became the center of her attention. She had an appreciation for poetry, nature, and the arts that was infectious, a legacy she passed on to her family and friends. Going on adventures with her husband was one of her favorite interests; they would go skiing, fishing, sailing, and hunting.

She is survived by her children: Teri (David) Mills, PhD of Punta Gorda FL, Dr. Richard (Mary) Gladitsch of Bloomer, Thomas (Melinda) Gladitsch of Edwards CO, Heidi (William) Bresina of Chippewa Falls WI, and Lisa (Michael) Koepke of Eden Prairie MN; one brother: Dr. James (Nancy) Wenzel of Park Rapids MN; one sister: Jean Fuller of St. Paul MN; grandchildren: Andy and Chris Mills, Michael (Greta Thome) Gladitsch and Dr. Carl (Alena) Gladitsch, Elizabeth and Charles Gladitsch, Landon, Hayley and Autumn Bresina, Carl (Kim Holub) Koepke, John and Matt Koepke; one great-granddaughter: Nora Elaine Gladitsch.

She is preceded in death by her; husband: Dr. William Gladitsch; parents: Charles and Cleo Wenzel; grandchildren: Jamie Gladitsch and Christian Koepke.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, April 27, 2015 at 10:30 AM at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Bloomer with Pastor Martin Halom officiating. A visitation will be held on Sunday April 26, 2015 from 4:00-7:00 PM at Olson Funeral Home in Bloomer and one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. Burial will be in the Bloomer Cemetery.
