Elaine G. Froiland

Elaine G. Froiland, age 90, passed away at the Maple Wood in Bloomer on Thursday, February 20, 2014. She was born on September 5, 1923 in Minnesota to John and Mabel (Stalson) Bartilson. She married Elvin Froiland on May 24, 1946 in Colfax. Elaine started working for the Bloomer Hospital as nurses aid on the first day the hospital opened. She was an active member of New Hope Lutheran Church and the WELCA. She loved making quilts, knitting, reading, sewing, playing board games, listening to her brother’s sing, and spending time with family and friends. Elaine had a cheerful outlook on life and was a positive influence on those around her.

She is survived by four sons: John (Bonnie) Froiland Springfield IL, Paul (Kathy) Froiland of Bloomer, Daniel (Yvonne) Froiland of Chalfant Valley, CA, and James (Diane) Froiland Greenfield IN; two daughters: Ruth (David) Baldry of Janesville, WI, Becky (John) Giammona of Lakeville, MN; brothers: Roger (LuAnn) Bartilson of Lakeville , MN and Stan Bartilson of Lansing, MI; son-in-law Larry Batchelder of Menomonie, WI; 16 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild

She is preceded in death by her parents: John and Mabel; husband: Elvin; daughter: Rachel Batchelder; brothers: Robert, Donald, and Wayne Bartilson

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, February 27, 2014 at New Hope Lutheran Church in Sand Creek. There will be a visitation from 4:00-8:00 PM at the Olson Funeral Home in Bloomer on Wednesday February 26, 2014. Interment will be in Our Saviors Cemetery in Sand Creek following the service.
