Obituary for Edwin M "Ed" Evenson

Edwin “Ed” M. Evenson, passed away at his home in the Town of Sampson on Friday, May 20, 2016. He was born on August 9, 1944 in New Auburn to Rueben and Mora “Ollie” (Slayton) Evenson. He married Kathy Ann Gehl on April 16, 1977 at Dovre Lutheran Church in New Auburn. He worked hauling feed for Chetek Coop for almost 30 years. He enjoyed anything to do with tractors and farm machinery, listening to polka music, hunting, fishing, four-wheeling, and spending time with family, friends and his puppies.

He is survived by his wife: Kathy of New Auburn; daughter: Mary Jo Gehl of Iowa; sister: Barbara (Wayne) Backhaus of Boyd; grandchildren: Samantha Jo (Jeff Korn) Butterfield and Cody Gehl; nieces and nephews: Greg (Jill) Backhaus, Brad Backhaus, Jeff Backhaus and Julie (Eric) Brown; numerous other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Rueben and Ollie Evenson.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at 11:00 AM at St. Jude’s Church in New Auburn. Burial will be at Twin Lakes Cemetery in the Town of Sampson. Friends may call from 4:00 – 8:00 on Monday at the Olson Funeral Home in Bloomer and one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday.
