Edwin Custer

Bunnell, FL Edwin Custer Sr. passed away peacefully on August 21, 2010, in the company of his loving family. He was 86 years old. Ed was born to Vincent and Freda Custer on December 17, 1923 in Chippewa County, WI. On February 18, 1956, he wed “the love of his life”, Dena Engstrom, who proceeded him in death on May 10, 1991. He now joins her in eternal peace. They raised their family in Waukesha, WI. Ed retired from Miller, Bradford and Risberg in 1986 and moved with Dena to Grand Island, FL. There, he served as a volunteer fireman/first responder for his community. Ed was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Ed always loved a good game of cards, but hated losing. He will be fondly remembered as a good friend, neighbor, and devoted family man, always willing to lend a hand. Ed was a lifetime member of the Lutheran church, and faithful in his attendance.

Ed is survived by his son Edwin Jr. (Carlene) of Foresthill, CA; daughters Marcy (John) of Anchorage, AK, Marie (Kurt) of Greenfield, WI, Paula Schrenk (Benny) of Foresthill, CA, Carol Fabrick of Bunnell, FL; granddaughters Catherine (Mike) and Dena (Chris) Schrenk, Verena and Marlena Fabrick; great-granddaughters Ashlan and Charlotte; as well as his sisters Marie McElroy and Elizabeth Morning; sister-in-law Muriel Custer and special friend Beverly Wegner, along with nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Ernest, Victor and Harold, and his sister Margaret Miller.

A memorial service will be held at Olson Funeral Home in Bloomer, WI on Saturday, September 11, at 4:00 PM with Pastor Eldon Carlson officiating. A visitation will be held from 2:00-4:00 PM at the funeral home prior to the service on Saturday.
