Obituary for Edward Popple

Edward J. “Fast Eddie” Popple passed away Tuesday, December 21, 2010 at Wissota Lakeside in Chippewa Falls after a courageous nine year battle with cancer. He was born March 25, 1945 in Chippewa Falls to Earl & Agnes (Tichy) Popple. He married Marilyn Cagle on April 29, 1967 in Stambaugh, Michigan. He was a quality control inspector for CT Assemblies and General Electric for 21 years. He was an excellent golfer, getting a hole-in-one and an eagle on the same day at Entwood Golf Course. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing pool and spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife: Marilyn of Bloomer; two brothers: Richard (Patricia) Popple of Bloomer and Dennis (Melanie) Popple of Bloomer; one sister: Donna (Mike) Yohnk of Cornell; one uncle: Emil Tichy of Jim Falls; three aunts: Sue Reetz of Green Leaf, WI, Esther Kurth of Chippewa Falls and Bess Lauer of Eau Claire; special nephews and nieces: Brian (Wendy) Younk, Kevin (Julie) Younk, Randy Starnes, Carl Popple, Lisa (Tim) Brunette, Traci Popple & Megan Popple; great grand-nephew: Michael Brunette.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two aunts: Edna Popple and Joyce Bjornson and one uncle: Arnold Popple.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday December 23, 2010 at 11:00 AM at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Bloomer with Father James Arthur officiating. Interment will be in the St. Catherine’s Cemetery located in the Town of Bloomer. Friends may call from 4:00 – 8:00 PM on Wednesday at the Olson Funeral Home in Bloomer with a Christian Wake Service at 7:30 PM.
