Eda Keltner

Eda K. Keltner, age 97, passed away Tuesday, April 16, 2013 at Colfax Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was born January 6, 1916 in Ames, Iowa, to Peter F. and Magda (Gronbech) Petersen. She married Benjamin Keltner on February 5, 1938 in Ames, Iowa. Eda was very proud of her Danish ancestry and would gladly tell you the story of her parent’s immigration to America. She enjoyed camping, fishing, her travels to Denmark, visiting with people and spending time with her family.

She is survived by two sons: George Keltner of Sand Creek and James (Beverly) Keltner of Colfax; first cousin: Erna Larsen of Denmark; two grandchildren: Shawn (Amber) Keltner and Scott Keltner ; five great-grandchildren: Kelty and Kree Keltner, Meadow, Rayna and Benjamin Keltner.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Peter and Magda Petersen; her husband: Benjamin; one brother: George who was killed in action in France during WWII.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, April 19, 2013 at 6:00 PM with visitation from 4:00 – 6:00 at the Olson Funeral Home in Bloomer with Pastor Barb Koch officiating. Interment will be in the Story County Memorial Gardens in Ames Iowa on Friday, April 26, 2013 at 2:00 PM with a visitation from 1:00 – 2:00 at Adams Funeral Home, located at 512 Douglas Ave. Ames, Iowa 50010 phone: (515) 232-5121.
