Earl L. Rossman

December 1, 1937 — May 28, 2025

Life Story (Abridged Version)

Earl Leonard Rossman, age 87, of Cornell, WI, passed away May 28, 2025, after a long battle with cancer. He was born in New Auburn, WI, on December 1, 1937 to Ella (Weibke) and Leonard Rossman.

Earl attended the Estella Township School thru 8th grade, and then transferred to Cornell High School, graduated in 1955. He joined the National Guard was activated during the Berlin Crisis of 1961.

On July 27, 1957, he married Katherine Karasch and she moved to family farm East of Cornell. Together, they raised their children, managed the farm, cared for the animals and enjoyed the country.

Earl wore many hats during those nearly 68 years: small engine repair to diesel engine repair, logger to owner of ShortCut Mills, factory worker to machine fabricator. He would often be seen throwing sparks outside the shed. (Welding, of course!)

In the spring time, he would drive a tractor around the field checking for dryness ever closer to the swamp until stuck. Almost everyone knew of Earl’s passion/obsession for tractors. Red ones, green ones, orange ones, blue and white ones, but Leader Tractors were special. He took great pride in being a member of the Leader Tractor Club for 26 years.

Earl is survived by his wife, Katherine; daughters: Zita (William) Bailey; Ramona (Timothy) Seidlitz; Teresa Wajek; Rebecca (Joseph) Lodahl, and son, EarlMichael; grandchildren: Bethany Kini, Christina (James) Klink, Octavia Parsons, Emmaline (Eric) Neubauer , Timothy (Tracie) Seidlitz, Charlotte (Jason) Anthes, Pamela (Lon) Coffey, Sara Wajek, Matthew Wajek, Austin Brown, Serena Hickey, Brandon Lodahl, Amber Lodahl, Elizabeth Jarboe; great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughters: Sherri and two infants; and son-in-law Stephen Wajek.
