Duane Boettcher

Duane H. Boettcher, age 85 passed away peacefully on Friday, October 25, 2013 at Mayo Clinic Health System in Eau Claire. He was born on January 16, 1928 in Bloomer to Melvin and Emilie (Anderl) Boettcher. He Graduated from Bloomer High School and played football for the Wisconsin Badgers and the Chippewa Marines. Duane married his wife of 60 years Beverly Berg on November 30, 1952 at Zion Methodist Church in Chippewa Falls. He farmed for many years and was employed by the Bloomer Post Office and was very active in the community, serving on the Town of Woodmohr Board, Chippewa County Board and the Bloomer School Board for many years. He was an avid Green Bay Packer and Wisconsin Badgers fan and was a member of the Bloomer United Methodist Church. He cherished his wife, children, grand and great-grandchildren and enjoyed many years of hunting fishing and going to football games. He was truly loved and will be missed by all who knew him.


He is survived by his wife: Beverly (Berg) Boettcher of Bloomer; children: Ragna (Dennis) Luedtke of Chippewa Falls, Deanna (Craig) Harings of Bloomer, Cherri (Jeff) Sarazen of Wausau and Kirk (Teri) Boettcher of Bloomer; brothers: Herman (Pat) Boettcher and Byron (Gale) Boettcher both of Bloomer; brother-in-law: Pete Redmond; nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents: Melvin and Emilie; sisters: Verdene (Gib) Schwab and Nilah Redmond


Funeral Services will be held at Olson Funeral Home in Bloomer on Tuesday, October 29, 2013 at 3:00 PM, with a visitation from 1:00-3:00 PM before the service on Tuesday. Interment will be in the Emmanuel Cemetery in the town of Tilden. Please direct memorials to the Emmanuel Cemetery or the United Methodist Church.
