Dr. John Eberle

Dr. John Eberle OD, age 97, passed away at his home in Bloomer on December 1, 2022. He was born June 20, 1925 in Hague ND to Joseph and Magdalene (Wolf) Eberle. He married Frances Scholastica Buechler on December 27, 1950. John served as a Medic in the US Army during WWII and was a Lieutenant Colonel in the US Air Force. Dr. John owned his own Optometry business in Bloomer for many years. He enjoyed working in his yard, golfing, and spending his days off at the airport flying his plane and tinkering with old cars.

He is survived by his wife of almost 72 years: Frances; son: John (Helen) Eberle of Henderson NV; daughters: Marcia Eberle of Bloomer and Michele (Tom Zwiefelhofer) Eberle of Chetek; 5 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Joseph and Magdalene; 13 brothers and sisters, numerous nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.


A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, December 9, 2022 at 1:00 PM at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Bloomer with a visitation at Olson Funeral Home on
Thursday, December 8th, 2022 from 4:00pm - 6:30pm with a Christian Wake Service at 6:30. Military honors will be by the Bloomer American Legion/VFW/AMVETS at the church.
