Donald G. Zwiefelhofer, age 89, passed away on Monday, September 8, 2025, surrounded by family, at Aggie's Country Living in Eagleton. He was born on April 15, 1936, in Bloomer to Frank and Rose (Hepfler) Zwiefelhofer. Don married Darlene Janota on July 20, 1957, at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Chetek.
Don worked diligently on his dairy farm and was proud of his crops. He was a man of strong faith whose greatest treasures were his family and the farm he tended with such dedication. He instilled a strong work ethic into his family and leaves behind a legacy of love and faith.
Don was an avid Saturday night church attendee at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Cooks Valley, was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the parish council. Don was a hard worker and wasn’t afraid to try something new. He enjoyed deer hunting, dancing, traveling, playing cards, attending his grandchildren’s events and an occasional trip to Turtle Lake Casino.
Don is survived by five children, Danita (Thomas) Jacobson of Eau Claire, David Zwiefelhofer of Bloomer, Douglas (Patricia) Zwiefelhofer of Bloomer, Dalyn (Paula) Zwiefelhofer of Elk Mound, and Dean (Josette) Zwiefelhofer of Chippewa Falls; nine grandchildren: Becca (Buzz) Holman, April (Terence) Trammell, Dawn Prince (fiancé Bob), Heidi Tuschl (Derrick Smith), Stacy (Nathan) Price, Eric (Miranda) Zwiefelhofer, Cory (Taryn) Zwiefelhofer, Jace Zwiefelhofer and Jadyn Zwiefelhofer; thirteen great-grandchildren: Olivia Trammell, Hayden Trammell, Kianna (Gabriel Jr.) Gonzalez, Chloe Prince, Braylee Prince, Brian Tuschl, Brison Tuschl (fiancé RaeAnna Schultz), Regan Tuschl, Dante Holman, Mekai Holman, Azaylea Price, Ty Price and Wylie Zwiefelhofer; two great-great grandchildren: Jasper Tuschl and Tatum Gonzalez; special companion: Maureen Lueck; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Frank and Rose Zwiefelhofer; wife: Darlene Zwiefelhofer in 2016; siblings: Sylvan Zwiefelhofer, Helen Fehr and Robert Zwiefelhofer.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Olson Funeral Home in Bloomer with a rosary service starting at 3:45 p.m. and Christian Vigil Service starting at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will also be held on Wednesday from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Cooks Valley. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Cooks Valley with Fr. Victor Feltes celebrating the Mass. Burial will be held in the church cemetery. Immediately following the burial, a luncheon will be served in the church basement.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to St. Croix Hospice and Aggie’s Country Living in Eagleton for all their loving care shown to Don.
