Delma LaVerne Mikula, age 90, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Friday, February 16, 2018 at Care Partners in Bloomer. She was born in Janesville WI, on July 28, 1927 and graduated from Shell Lake High School. She worked as a nurse’s aide in Minneapolis MN and a teller at the Shell Lake State Bank. Delma married Gail Louis Mikula on May 27, 1950. They lived and worked in Barron, WI and on April 1, 1958 they purchased the family farm in Bloomer, WI. She was an active partner in the farming operation, helping with daily farm chores as well as the seasonal field work all while raising her loving family of 4 children. Delma along with her family, also raised a large garden each year. She was an active member of Farm Bureau and served as the treasurer for the Bloomer Township for a number of years and was a member of First Baptist Church. Delma and Gail retired in 1990. In their 28 years of retirement together they had many adventures as they travelled with their truck/camper to places like Alaska, Florida, Texas and Arizona visiting family and making many new friends. Each spring they would arrive back in the Midwest to spend time enjoying their family here.
She is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, Gail; daughter Helen (Tim) Kringle of Cokato, MN; and sons Franklin (Debbie) Mikula of Stone Lake, WI, Tim (Roxie) Mikula of Bloomer, WI and Jim (Martha) Mikula of Bloomer, WI. She was blessed with 10 grandchildren and ten great grandchildren and another great grandchild due in May. Brother: Alvin Holman of Birchwood, WI and nieces, nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Frank and Ila (Long) Holman.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 22, 2018 at 11:00 AM at the First Baptist Church at 743 14 /38 St. Hillsdale, WI, 54733 with Pastor Turbett officiating.
There will be a visitation at the Olson Funeral Home in Bloomer on Wednesday, February 21, 2018 from 4:00-7:00PM and one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in the Evergreen Cemetery in Stone Lake at 3:00 PM. The family would like to thank Heartland Hospice and Country Terrace/Care Partners in Bloomer for their loving care of Delma.
