Obituary for Delbert V. Stewart

Delbert V. Stewart, age 94, passed away on Tuesday, October 3, 2017 at Atrium Post Acute Care in Bloomer. He was born on January 29, 1923 to John and Nina (Bonner) Stewart. He proudly served in the US Army during WWII from 1942 – 1946 in New Guinea, the East Indies, the Philippines and Japan. Delbert married Wanda Pietz on April 25, 1950 in the Town of Auburn. They spent their life together working on the farm and raising their family. He was an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. He was a huge Packer and Wisconsin Badger fan and enjoyed going to the cabin, hunting, fishing and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his children: Duane Stewart, Sandra (Edwin) Metcalf, Shelley Swoboda, Kent (Yvonne) Stewart, Jay (Brenda) Stewart; grandchildren: Dawn (Nick) Bowden, Heather (Michael) Russ, Stacey (Dean) Schemmel, Jenny (Robert) Schutte, Renee (Jamie) Bonjour, Raeann Nargiz, Kevin (Erica)Stewart, Kayla Stewart, and Jayson Stewart; great-grandchildren: McKenzie and Kaylie Bowden, Roy and John Schemmel, Ryan and Eric Schutte, Easton and Reid Bonjour, Evan and Elise Nargiz; step-grandchildren: Jennifer, Kevin (Lexy), Kyle (Samantha), and Brittany Michels; sisters-in-law: Vergean Stewart and Beverly Stewart; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents: John and Nina Stewart; wife: Wanda on January 4, 2014; infant son: Mark; infant granddaughter: Christie Stewart; brothers: John Jr., Bruce and Stephen Stewart; sisters: Evelyn Richter and Hazel Windsor; son-in-law: Francis Swoboda.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, October 8, 2017 at 3:00 PM at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Bloomer. There will be a visitation from 1:00 – 3:00 PM at the Church before the service. Interment will be in the Auburn Cemetery. Olson Funeral Home is assisting the family.
