Darrell J. “Charlie” Bowe, passed away two days after his 90th birthday on Tuesday, May 27, 2025 at Mayo Clinic Health Systems Hospital in Osseo. Charlie was born on May 25, 1935 in Chippewa Falls, to Edward and Mildred (Yohnk) Bowe. He proudly served his country as a paratrooper in the US Army. Charlie married Joanne Zenner at the Stillwater Courthouse on April 15, 1957 and again at the request of Charlie’s parents on July 27, 1957 at Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Chippewa Falls.

Charlie was an over the road truck driver and truly loved exploring the United States. He had a milk route and was president of the NFO, National Farmer’s organization. He was on the Woodmohr Town Board and was a member of the American Legion in Bloomer. In his younger years, he enjoyed going to Rice Lake Speedway and racing his stock car. Charlie’s true passion was his Old McCharlie’s Farm and taking care of all his animals. He was known as “Grandpa Charlie” to the many children who visited his farm over the years and was sure to share an ice cream treat with them.

Charlie is survived by his wife: Joanne Bowe; children: Randy (Carol) Bowe of Bloomer, Scott (Debra) Bowe of Bloomer, Chris (Barry) Moullet of New Smyrna Beach, FL, Rick (Michelle) Bowe of Lake City, MN and Chuck (Jill) Bowe of Bloomer; siblings: Diane Bowe, Wilbur (Carol) Bowe and Mike (Donna) Bowe; sister-in-law: Delores Bowe; 9 grandchildren: Samantha Moullet, Joel (Justin) Bowe, Elliott (Becca Zugier) Bowe, Sean Bowe, Josie (Cam) Rothrauff, Collin Bowe, Shelby Bowe, Carlie Bowe and Charlie Bowe; and 4 great-grandchildren: Jackson, Bryer, Baylor and Granger.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Edward and Mildred Bowe; and brother: Melvin Bowe.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 3:00 PM on Sunday, June 1, 2025, at the White Pine Pavilion in Bloomer. A memorial service will begin at 3:00 PM with a luncheon and fellowship to follow. Military honors will be performed by the Bloomer American Legion and VFW. Burial will be held at a later date at St. Paul’s North Catholic Cemetery in Bloomer.
