Dakota A. Steinmetz, age 21, passed away Friday, February 24, 2017 in Calumet County, Wisconsin, due to injuries sustained from a car accident. He was born August 19, 1995 in Eau Claire, Wisconsin to Paul Steinmetz and Michelle Nichols. He graduated from Wisconsin School for the deaf and worked for Ariens Manufacturing in Brillion, Wisconsin. Dakota enjoyed sports, especially football and track, working on computers and playing computer games. He had high goals for his future; planning a career as an interpreter and dreaming of being the first deaf pilot.
He is survived by his father: Paul Steinmetz of Chippewa Falls; his mother: Michelle (Spanyard) Nichols of Chippewa Falls; Brother: Tyler Steinmetz of Bloomer; Step-brothers: Hunter Steinmetz, Raymond Spanyard and Maverick Brunner; step-sisters: Kyla Bohrman, Becky Spanyard, Emma Steinmetz, Amelia Panesh; Grandparents: Karen Steinmetz, Tom and Jennifer Parkhurst, Dan Nichols, Dorothea Panosh; great-great-grandmother: Helen Holst.
He was preceded in death by his step-mother: Teresa Steinmetz; step-father: Bradly Spanyard; grandfather: Gordon Steinmetz; grandmother: Sharon Nichols.
Funeral services will be held on Friday. March 3, 2017 at 1:00 PM at the Olson Funeral Home in Bloomer with a visitation from 11:00 until the time of service at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Cleveland Cemetery, Chippewa County, Wisconsin.
