Obituary for Cleabourne L. "Clay" Pecore

Cleabourne L. “Clay” Pecore, age 86, passed away Sunday, August 31, 2014 at MCHS in Bloomer. He was born April 27, 1928 in Colfax to Merrit and Hattie (Ebling) Pecore. He graduated from Colfax High School in 1946 and entered the United States Marine Corps on September 28, 1946. He was sent to China as a teletype mechanic and radio operator. He was discharged on September 27, 1949 and then worked at Bendix Corp for about 12 years. He then worked at Control Data in Arden Hills for about 26 years. He was married to Bernice Christianson on June 11, 1966 at Luther Memorial Church in South Saint Paul MN. Clay enjoyed his sweets, especially ice cream and chocolate, and he loved fishing. He was a “People Person” and was well known for his quick witted comments. He enjoyed teasing people and liked it even better when there was a clever reply.

He is survived by his wife: Bernice (Christianson) Pecore of Bloomer; brother: Lon Pecore of Colfax;
sisters-in-law: Mary Pecore, Shirley Christianson, and Shirley (Jack) Ellingboe; brothers-in-law: Byron (Ginny) Christianson and Clifford (Gwen) Christianson; grandchildren: Jessica Cain-Osborn, Casey Day and Corey Pecore.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Merrit and Hattie Pecore; daughters: Debbie and Roxanne Pecore; son: Ronald J. Pecore; brother: Leo Pecore; brother-in-law: Robert Christianson; nephew: Brad Pecore; his former wife: Beverly.

The family would like to thank the Police Officer who came to the house to help, the Bloomer Ambulance personnel, the whole Bloomer Hospital including doctors and the staff who were so helpful and just terrific in the care of Clay.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 4, 2014 at 11:00 AM at North Running Valley Lutheran Church. Interment will be in the North Running Valley Cemetery with Military Gravesite Rites performed by the Bloomer VFW and American Legion. Friends may call from 5:00 – 7:30 PM on Wednesday at the Olson Funeral Home in Bloomer and one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday.
