Obituary for Clayton E. Boese

Clayton Boese, age 87, passed away on Thursday, April 9, 2015 at MCHS Maplewood in Bloomer. He was born in the town of Auburn on June 26, 1927 to Fred and Yvonne (Durand) Boese. He married Alice Mullen on September 5, 1953 in Bloomer. Clayton served his country in the US Army and was selected as a member of the Old Guard standing guard for many dignitaries including: Queen Elizabeth, Dwight Eisenhower and President Harry Truman. He worked as a farmer all his life and truly enjoyed it (except for picking rock). He served on the ASCS board for over 30 years and the Bloomer American Legion. He loved music and sang in the church choir for many years. He would often participate in sing-alongs at The Maplewood. He was an active member of St Paul Lutheran Church most of his life and also served on the church council. In his free time he enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing cards, going to the cabin, driving tractor and watching sports. Clayton had a quick wit and loved telling jokes, talking smart, teasing and having fun with his grandkids.


He is survived by his wife Alice; two sons: Lary (Annie) Boese of Bloomer and Daniel “Dobber” (Wendy) Boese of Chetek; two daughters; Julie (Don) Krause of Sand Creek and Laura (Brian) Bleskacek of Bloomer; 11 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; sisters: Eunice Miller and Ione (Bert) Jones both of Bloomer numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and special friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Fred and Yvonne; son: Rhon Boese and Alan and Roger in infancy.

Funeral services will be held at St. Paul Lutheran Church on Monday April 13, 2015 at 4:00 PM. Interment will be in the Auburn Cemetery following the service. There will be a visitation on Monday, April 13th from 1:00-4:00 PM at the Church. In lieu of flowers please direct memorials to the Maplewood Activities fund for a bus or the Alzheimer’s Association.
