Charles J. Frenz, age 86, passed away at the Mayo Clinic in Bloomer on Sunday, February 14, 2016. He was born on October 23, 1929 in Mason City Iowa to Fred and Hazel (Grover) Frenz and graduated from Chetek High School in 1948. Chuck proudly served in the US Navy aboard the USS Midway during the Korean War. He married Ardis “Tiny” Frank on November 14, 1953 and moved to Rockford Illinois where he worked as a machinist at Menasha and later at ELCO Tool. When Chuck retired in 1992, he and Tiny moved back to their roots in Mudbrook. He loved the outdoors, fishing, camping and golfing. He enjoyed tinkering and making things work the “Chuck Way”. He was a wonderful father, grandfather, brother and uncle. He was loved and will be greatly missed by all.
Charles is survived by three daughters: Laurie (Rick) Plummer of Holcombe, Glenda (Jimmie) Montgomery of Byron IL, Donette (Doug) Vangsness of Rockford IL; four grandchildren: Beth (Eric), Erin and Matt (Jamie) and Jeremy; four great-grandchildren: Kalliegh, Emily, Blake and Jaxon; numerous, nieces and nephews, with special thanks to niece, Kaye McGill for all her support.
He is preceded in death by his parents: Fred and Hazel; wife: Ardis “Tiny”; sisters: Marion Hopkins, Helen Postle and Ruth Littlefield.
A memorial service will be held at the Olson Funeral Home in Bloomer on Friday, February 19, 2016 at 11:00 AM with a visitation from 10:00-11:00 at the Funeral Home on Friday. Military honors will be performed by the Bloomer American Legion and VFW. Interment in the Island Lake Cemetery will take place at a later date.
