Obituary for Charles "Chuck" Hanson

Charles R. “Chuck” Hanson, age 79, passed away Wednesday, September 1, 2010 at the Maple Wood in Bloomer. He was born November 21, 1930 in the Town of Dovre to Lorenzo & Mabel (Dutton) Hanson. He married Barbara Donahue on August 12, 1950 in New Auburn. Charles worked as a meat cutter and a meat inspector for the State of Wisconsin. He was a member of the New Auburn United Methodist Church, the New Auburn Fish and Game Club and was an officer in the first chapter of Wisconsin Muskie, Inc. He enjoyed singing, listening to music, fishing, making Musky lures, golfing, hunting, reading and doing a daily crossword over a cup of coffee. Chuck was a “people person” and could strike up a conversation with just about anybody, He loved his family and spent countless hours enjoying their company.

He is survived by his wife: Barbara of New Auburn; five children: Becky (Jim) Coach of Eau Claire, Vicky (Tom) McCracken of Eau Claire, Dan (Lori) Hanson of New Auburn, Janie (Mike) Super of New Auburn and Marie King of Chetek; ten grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 4, 2010 at 11:00 AM at St. Jude’s Church in New Auburn with Rev. Heather Brewer, United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will be in the New Auburn Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 – 8:00 on Friday at the Olson Funeral Home in Bloomer and one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.
