Charlene A. Rosenbrook

Charlene A. Rosenbrook, affectionately known as "Char," gracefully exited this world at the age of 69 on August 4, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones and friends. In true Char fashion, her home became a revolving door of friends, neighbors, colleagues, and family, all coming to share their love, thanks, and farewells.

Born on July 29, 1956, in Chippewa Falls, WI, Char was the third daughter of Florina (Schemenauer) and Edward Goettl. She grew up in a close-knit family, first on the farm in Tilden, and later in the city, where she graduated from Chippewa Falls Senior High School. Char's extended family remained tight-knit over the years, sharing countless memories, and laughs. Her siblings became some of her best friends over the years.

Char's life was a whirlwind of love, fun, friends, and adventure. If you wanted to go dancing, Char was the first on the floor, ready to teach you if you felt shy or uncomfortable. If you craved a beer or a Bloody Mary, she'd be right there with you at Harms Way, her infectious laugh and smile lighting up the room. Char was devoted to her children, working three jobs to ensure they felt loved and supported. In one of her last days, she enjoyed a fish sandwich brought by her son-in-law, and you better believe it didn't have tartar sauce! Char also loved to can with her daughter, making sure anyone who needed tomato juice had it when they asked. Rumor has it she was also the best dumpling maker of the bunch!

Char made friends easily, both personally and professionally. She enjoyed an over 40-year career as a respiratory therapist at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Mayo Clinic Health System, and Lakeview, where she saved many lives and supported countless families. Her influence was evident by the number of people who rallied around her in her final days, whispering "I love you, Charlene," which she lovingly whispered back as she could. Char was a true fighter, battling cancer for five years without letting on how much pain she was in – not wanting anyone to worry about her.

As a grandma, Char was amazing, often surrounded by her seven beautiful grandchildren. She loved watching them play sports, chasing chickens and dogs, and going on adventures. Char cherished traveling with family and friends, especially to Siesta Key Beach, creating memories that will last a lifetime for all those lucky enough to have gone along. If someone mentioned a casino trip, Char was ready to try her luck at the machines, not for the winning, but for the experience with loved ones and friends.

Char was a kind, generous, and loving sister, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. She will always be remembered for her adventurous spirit and the way she lived for her kids and grandchildren.

Char is survived by her three children: Shawn Rosenbrook of New Auburn, Tasha Bjork (Kyle) and their children Aydin, Kenlee, and Kale of Colfax, and Dana Nielsen (Brad) and their children Caysen, Landry, Lynlea, and Laetyn of Bloomer. She is also survived by her sister Doris Kolmer, brother Charlie (Mary) Goettl, and youngest sister Bonnie Mickelson (Robert), as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Char was preceded in death by her father, Edward Goettl, mother, Florina Goettl, and sister, Marie Berg.

The family extends their heartfelt thanks to Mayo Clinic Health System Hospice for their care and support during this difficult time.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 3:00 – 6:00 PM on Monday, August 18, 2025, at the White Pine Pavilion in Bloomer.
