CCarl R. Thompson, age 93, passed away Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at Heritage Lakeside in Rice Lake. He was born April 20, 1925 in Goodman, Missouri to Thomas Martin and Julia (French) Thompson. He married Agnes E. Maier on September 16, 1944 and after her death in 1981, he married Mary A. (Jecevicus) Abbott on July 29, 1985. Carl enlisted at age 17 in the Navy and served during WWII. He then worked as a farmer and for Mid-Am Dairy in Bloomer. He enjoyed farming, going to ball games, dancing and spending time with family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife: Agnes; grandson: Derek Thompson; numerous brothers and sisters.
He is survived by his wife: Mary of Bloomer; sons: Michael of Oak Creek, Timothy of South Dakota and Gregory of Menomonie; grandchildren: Erik, Bradley, Joshua, Jay (LaWanda), Ryan (Mindy) and Brittany (Thompson) Kinneman; great-grandchildren: Darian, Jayla and Jayzson, Griffin and Willow; great-great grandchild: Raylan; step-grandchildren: Richard, Andrew and Debra Abbott; step-great-grandchildren: Amanda, Nathan and Sarah; step-great-great grandchild: Autumn; numerous other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, March 10, 2019 at 3:00 PM at Olson Funeral Home in Bloomer with a visitation from 1:00 – 3:00 at the funeral home. Spring burial will be in the South Catholic Cemetery in Bloomer.
