Obituary for Betty Lou Reed (Morley)

Betty Lou Reed, age 79, passed away Tuesday, September 23, 2008 at Hetzel Care Center in Bloomer. She was born November 17, 1928 in the Town of Sampson to Leon & Vera (Waugh) Morley. She married Hugh “Snook” Reed on June 16, 1951 in Pine City, Minnesota. She worked as a housekeeper and caregiver for neighbors and also helped her husband run “Snook’s Store” in New Auburn. She was a member of the New Auburn United Methodist Church, New Auburn American Legion Auxiliary, Bloomer & Chippewa Order of the Eastern Star and was a volunteer at the Ice Age Trail. Betty Lou enjoyed singing, cooking, reading, baking, sewing, playing cribbage, living on the lake, enjoying nature and spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by three daughters: Veda Reed, Patricia (David) Proehl & Mary (Richard) Stilley, all of New Auburn; one son: Darrell (Alicia) Reed of Eau Claire; one sister: Lucille Blaisdell of Mora MN; one brother: Leonard Morley of Kaukauna;
five grandchildren: Brian & Brilliana Reed and Carly, Garrett Stilley & Beeta (John) Gualdoni; one great-granddaughter: Isabella Gualdoni; two sisters in-law: Carol Reed & Rosemary DeGroot; numerous other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Leon & Vera Morley; her husband: Snook; two sisters: Charlotte Waterhouse & Helen Miller; one brother: Dale Morley.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2008 at 11:00 AM at the United Methodist Church in New Auburn with Rev. Heather Brewer officiating. Interment will be in the New Auburn Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 �" 8:00 on Friday at the Olson Funeral Home in Bloomer where there will be an Eastern Star Service at 7:30 PM. A lunch will be served at St. Jude’s in New Auburn following the committal.
