Bertha I. Goettl

Bertha I. Goettl, age 75, passed away at her home on Sunday, June 5, 2016. She was born in Bloomer on January 19, 1941 to Antonious and Elizabeth (Schwartz) Riese. She married Clement Goettl on October 17. 1959 at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Bloomer. Bertha took care of her family and helped on the farm. She was gifted at making crafts and Christmas ornaments and every winter she spent countless hours making wreaths and garland for people of the Chippewa Valley. She was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church, active in the 4-H, and she enjoyed fishing, traveling, the casino, crafts, but especially she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years: Clement Goettl; eight sons: Lyle (Kelly) of Chippewa Falls, Clement “Shorty” (Mari) of Bloomer, Theodore (Lisa) Of Chippewa Falls, Joseph (Shelly) of Bloomer, Tony (Tammy) of Berlin WI, Eric of Chippewa Falls, Grant of Sun Prairie and Victor Goettl of Chippewa Falls; 3 daughters: Lois (David) Fredrickson of Chippewa Falls, Jane Roycraft of Cadott WI, Susan (James) Caterer of Eleva WI; 22 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her son; Ernest Goettl; her parents: Antonious and Elizabeth Riese; and Clem’s parents.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, June 11, 2016 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Chippewa Falls at 10:30 AM. A wake service will be held from 4:00-8:00 PM on Friday, June 10, 2016 at the Olson Funeral Home in Bloomer with a Christian Wake Service at 7:30 PM on Friday evening.
