Bertha Ewings

Bertha B. Ewings, age 94, passed away Sunday, November 14, 2010 at Chippewa Manor. She was born March 16, 1916 in the Town of Bloomer to Emil & Goldie (Windsor) Raatz. She married Fred Ewings on June 10, 1939 in Bloomer. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, WELCA, Friendship Circle and quilting group. Bertha’s first priority has always been her family. She loved her life on the farm and enjoyed being outdoors, hunting, fishing, playing cards, and quilting. She had a genuine interest in people’s stories, writing the Pine Corner News for many years.

She is survived by one son: Tom (Jackie) Ewings of Bloomer; two daughters: Kay (Richard) Wymore of Richfield WI & Shelby (David) Helin of Bloomer; eight grandchildren: Kris (Keith) Hanson of Elk Mound, Karen (Tim) Trowbridge of New Auburn, Karla (Scott) Sokup of Chippewa Falls, Adam (Tracia) Ewings of Bloomer. Ember (Ganesh) Rom Ewings of Eau Claire, Nate (Kate) Ewings of Stoughton, Marshall Wymore of Wyandotte MI & Jason (Jenny) Wymore of Cedarburg WI; 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Fred and one infant brother.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 19, 2010 at 11:00 AM at St. John ‘s Lutheran Church with Rev. Bruce Rimmereid and Father Robert Hoekstra officiating. Interment will be in the Bloomer Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 – 8:00 on Thursday at the Olson Funeral Home in Bloomer and one hour prior to services at the church on Friday.
