Barbara  J. Hanson (Donahue)

Barbara J. Hanson, age 85, passed away on February 13, 2016 at Mayo System Health Care in Bloomer. She was born on June 2, 1930 in New Auburn to Merritt and Laura (Shipman) Donahue. She married Charles Hanson on August 12, 1950 in New Auburn. She was a member of the New Auburn United Methodist Church and UMW and worked for the senior Nutrition Program in New Auburn. She was a gentle and sweet women with a heart of gold and in her free time she enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by five children: Becky (Jim) Coach of Eau Claire, Vicky (Tom) McCracken of Eau Claire, Dan (Lori) Hanson of New Auburn, Janie (Mike) Super of New Auburn and Marie King of Chetek; one brother: Richard (Verona) Donahue of Bloomer; two sisters-in-law: Corrine Donahue of Eau Claire and Francis Donahue of Bloomer; 16 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Merritt and Laura Donahue; her husband: Charles; two brothers: Wayne “Dan” and John “Jack” Donahue.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 18, 2016 at 11:00 AM at St. Jude’s Church in New Auburn with Pastor Tammy Clausen officiating. Friends may call from 4:00 – 6:30 PM on Wednesday, at the Olson Funeral Home in Bloomer and one hour prior to the services at church on Thursday.
